Growing up was hard. I was one of those girls who got picked on, teased and pushed around. When I see young girls today it always gets to me when I see things haven’t changed. I have known for a long time that I have wanted to be a photographer. As a younger sister I always saw my brothers magazines and thought “wow, the photographer made those girls so beautiful!” Not the normal wow those girls are so beautiful. It was the photographer that made me think if I could do that I could change lives. Some people go their whole lives thinking they are ugly, not pretty enough – worthless. With my photography I wanted to change that. My grandmother always told me that “if you tell yourself you are beautiful you will become beautiful inside and out.”
Here I am in 5th grade in all my glory, later that year I permed my hair – big mistake!! I use to stay in after lunch instead of going out side for recess, too afraid of being picked on.
I am so different now, stronger because of what my grandmother had told me.

My younger cousin Kierstin is in middle school and wants to pursue modeling, she asked me to take some pictures of her. As any good cousin would do, I said yes.
Every girl sees their flaws. I see their beauty. What makes them different helps them stand out in this world.
Girls can be so mean. You just need to stay strong and tell yourself you are BEAUTIFUL and believe in it!!
With all this said I give you the photographs I captured of my cousin. Someone who gets picked on and teased in school. I can not believe it! Very unfair.
I wish their was more we could do to stop school bulling.

Loved this post. I, too, was so awkard. Huge bangs, glasses, and braces all at the same time. Lucky me! But now I have super nice teeth! yay! Anyways, keep it up, making gals feel beautiful that is.
