Meagen and Darrell – Tying the Knot on September 10th, 2011

I called a few of the top contestants earlier this week to get a better feel for them without knowing who the top finalists were.  I believe it is important to like your wedding photographer, not only their art but there personality.

Meagen and I hit it off right away and I can tell they just can not wait to be married!  Turns even though they live in California they both have Detroit in their hearts!

Meagen and Darrell’s best friend Jessica entered the contest with out them knowing….turns out Meagen entered as well.  Both stories are touching and I can’t exclude either so…..

Hello Miranda, my name is Jessica and I would like to nominate Meagen and Darrell for your free wedding photography contest. I have known Meagen and Darrell for 10 years now and I honestly cannot think of two people more deserving of a gift of this magnitude.

As an elementary school teacher, Meagen unselfishly gives herself everyday to a profession that doesn’t financially give her the gratification she deserves. After years of having a long distance relationship, Darrell left North Carolina and uprooted his collegiate experience to move to California to be with Meagen and finish schooling there. These are just two examples of how the both of them have been so unselfish not only between themselves but with the individuals in their life as well. They are two people that never ask for things from others yet prove to be the rock for the people in their lives.

Meagen and Darrell have seen their fair share of struggles in their relationship. Being in an interracial relationship has not been the easiest thing for individuals around them to accept. For their entire relationship, they have had to deal with discrimination. I have seen them blossom over the years to an amazing couple that truly have risen above all struggles that have come their way. They have dealt with the loss of family, long distance in their relationship, financial struggles and discrimination. Yet despite whatever issues they have had, their love for one another and others have pulled them thru. They embrace their relationship and applaud their differences rather than let those that condemn it affect them. Even now, while experiencing financial hardships, they do not let it affect their spirit and they are still two of the most giving individuals despite not having the most.

They have been together now for 9 years and I truly feel they are deserving of a beautiful wedding and the last thing they should be concerned with is having to settle for less due to all of the financial obligations associated with a wedding. The cost of photography would be a very substantial weight lifted from their budget and they truly deserve it.

These two are not only my best friends but they are both fine examples of not only what true love looks like but they also mirror what it truly means to be giving and unselfish and they deserve for their special day to be the best and this gift would assist with accomplishing that.
