August 12th, 2011, I witnessed something truly amazing. Thousands of people all wearing some form of pink in support of a cure for breast cancer. It has taken me months to write this blog post….still tearing up over all that I witnessed those three days. I went in support of Team Sajhee Sajhee in honor of Maureen Witt-Hunt & Christine Witt-Ide.

You might remember Christine from a few of my blog posts regarding Think Pink.

Team Sajhee Sajhee is made up of six amazing women, starting with sisters Maureen and Colleen along with Colleen’s daughters Megan, Lauren, Kera and Maurene’s granddaughter Taylor.

I have known these ladies for 9 years and love them all dearly. I have photographed them all throughout the years….but never this way. It was SO emotional.

The day started at 5 am driving to the opening ceremonies at 6:30 AM. My mother-in-law Candy & cousin Nathan tagged along to support the ladies!

Nathan was there to surprise his mom, Maureen. She was THRILLED to see him!

Taylor was one of the youngest walkers this year! They were all so proud of her! A little pre-walk stretch and pep talk!

Christine showed up as the main speaker was hitting the stage.

As the sun started rising I noticed this couple, he was there in support of his wife…..I silently snapped a few pictures of them. Such love.

This is when the tears started flowing. The woman carrying “Belief” is an amazing woman. Her name is Joyce and I met her last year, while second shooting a wedding for my friend Ed. It was amazing to see her standing so strong.

We said our good lucks and goodbyes…..it was very emotional we were all so proud of them.

Oh Christine….you are the reason I started with Think Pink. To help support Breast Cancer Awareness. I hate that it happened to you, but I know you are stronger because of it…..I love you!

Later that day we met up with the ladies at one of the MANY cheering sections.

I ran into Joyce and her crew. They were walking for Luby’s Boobies.

As we were waiting for our team we stood next to a father and daughter…..she was so excited waiting to surprise her mom.

It was pretty cool to see her reaction and the daughters excitement.

I missed day two due to my wine and cheese party, but I was there for the final day!

Sheila & Theresa were Team Sajhee Sajhee’s main supporters for the three days! Check out the sign they made!!

It was perfect for their final check in!

Watching all of the walkers finish the race was…….ah…….so breathtaking. I am in tears thinking about it all over again!

Kera the youngest sister was team captain….she lead them through the sign.

I love how Colleen is looking at Maureen.

Just look at their faces, how happy they are! They did it!

Celebratory cold beers were ready for them!

Of course I had to jump in! I am proud to say I will be walking along with them next year!! So get ready for some fun fundraisers….. ;]

It will be a whole new experience and I can not wait to take it on.

I meet up with Joyce again to say goodbye and congrats!

Instead of staying for closing ceremonies we went over to Christine’s house…seeing that she couldn’t make it.

It was quite the surprise!

Yep that is my boyfriend, Mr. Nolan waving goodbye to me. I can not wait to photograph their next Think Pink family session!

To team Sajhee Sajhee thank you for walking 60 miles. I look up to you all and I can not wait to walk with you in 2012.

Martina McBride has a new song out in support of breast cancer….it makes me think of you all.
